Police use spray to subdue mob

AN ENDEAVOUR Hills party descended into chaos last Friday night when about 300 youths were turned away from a DJ event.
Several police units were called to the party, which was held at the Endeavour Hills Leisure Centre, after fights broke out among the disgruntled crowd.
Tensions flared after partygoers discovered a fee was being charged for entry into the event.
Police used capsicum spray to subdue several members of the crowd who had begun fighting each other.
An Endeavour Hills teenager was the only person arrested.
He was detained for breaching the peace.
Endeavour Hills Sergeant Darren Shaw said parents needed to be aware of where their children were going at night and to organise a plan to get them home safely.
“The warmer weather on Saturday night probably caused a few more people to go out than usual,” he said.
Sgt Shaw said anyone hosting a party should register it with Victoria Police’s PartySafe program and make it an invite-only party.
“We will be working with the leisure centre management to make sure we are aware of any future events being held.”
