Hearing loss hits home

MORE than 40,000 people in Casey suffer some form of hearing loss, according to new Access Economics research.
Kerryn Phelps, former president of the Australian Medical Association and now medical consultant to AudioClinic, said the results highlighted the clear economic cost of hearing loss conditions in the City of Casey.
The report indicates that 1800 people in Casey are unemployed due to the fact that they cannot hear well enough to work.
“Too many Australians are not seeking treatment and probably do not realise how bad their hearing really is,” Prof Phelps said.
“Many do not realise the impact their loss is not only having on them, but also on people around them, especially in the workplace.”
AudioClinic Berwick has launched a new online hearing test that can be taken on a home computer, via the Internet.
Those who feel they might be suffering from a hearing loss are urged to take the Delta test at www.audioclinic.com.au
