FIRE caused major damage to the Simonds Homes sales office in Berwick on Sunday and the damage bill is set to exceed $100,000.
Local CFA brigades were called about 11.10pm when a passing truck driver noticed smoke billowing from the Oakmoss Place building.
Crews from Berwick and Narre Warren quickly responded to the call and found a major fire venting through the roof.
Beaconsfield Fire Brigade was also called to assist and the fire took 10 minutes to bring under control.
Berwick Fire Brigade captain Alan Boyd said there was a major concern that the roof trusses on the building may collapse, so firefighters decided to fight the fire externally.
A spokesperson for Simonds Homes said the company was thankful the fire had not spread to nearby display homes and was now using another building as a sales office.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
