THE Casey Creations youth art competition will be running again as part of National Youth Week celebrations in April.
The competition is in its seventh year and is open to young people from grade five through to year 12 (or age equivalent) who live, work, study or have a strong connection to Casey to showcase their original works.
Entries close 5pm tomorrow (Friday).
City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall said the competition was a terrific way for young people in the community to express their artistic talent and be in the draw to win some great prizes.
“The Casey Creations art competition provides a wonderful opportunity for young people to be recognised for their emerging talent, and some of the winning works will be exhibited in various locations throughout the municipality so that everyone has the opportunity to celebrate their achievements,” she said.
Casey Creations is accepting entries in two categories – visual arts and photography.
Photography entries should address the theme ‘What do young people do in Casey?’
A maximum of two pieces of artwork will be accepted.
“Each entry received will be judged by a panel of community members and established artists, with winners to be invited to a special presentation in April, during National Youth Week,” Cr Halsall said.
