All but one seek to stay on

ALL but one of Casey’s councillors have signalled their intention to stand again at November’s local government election.
Balla Balla Ward’s Colin Butler is set to be the only civic leader who will step down at the end of the current four-year term.
Cr Butler has served the Casey community for six years, including a term as mayor in 2007.
The 10 other incumbent councillors have all said they will seek re-election when residents head to the polls on 29 November.
Cr Butler said he wanted to be able to live his personal life without interference from outside parties.
He also mentioned the large demands of representing such a large ward.
“I could not commit to another four years,” he said.
“Having already served for six years I find myself worn out with the demands of a ward half the area of the whole city, with many more issues than the other wards.”
The News reported earlier this month that Cr Butler was innocently caught up in a controversy surrounding his estranged wife, Cynthia Butler.
Fellow councillor Paul Richardson extended an invitation to Ms Butler, which was accepted, to attend last Friday’s mayoral civic dinner.
Cr Butler wrote at the time that he had been an “innocent party involved and that this (invitation) is a vendetta against me supported by my estranged wife”.
Cr Richardson denied there was anything sinister involved in the invitation.
“Having to fight against 10 other councillors to get things done has exhausted me,” Cr Butler said.
Several other councillors said they would be standing again as there were incomplete projects they wanted to see through.
Veteran councillors Mick Morland and Rob Wilson, who have clocked up more than 30 years of local government representation between them, will both seek another term.
