THE Bonnie Babes Foundation is better positioned to help families deal with grief after gaining a $5000 boost from the Department of Human Services.
Vicepresident of Bonnie Babes, Carol Pirie, praised the group of dedicated volunteers in Narre Warren, Lysterfield, Hallam, Berwick and Endeavour Hills that provides counselling and medical research into miscarriage, stillbirth, poor growth, preeclampsia and premature birth.
Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan who helped the group lobby for the money said that families facing the problems the Bonnie Babes Foundation help with require all the support they can get and the booklet was a great starting point.
“I can’t imagine what it would be like losing a child, but it’s wonderful to see Bonnie Babes providing support to the parts of the community affected by miscarriage and stillbirth,” he said.
“While it may not seem like much, this grant will go toward the publication of a very important book that helps families through a time of hardship and grief following the loss of a baby.”
About12,000 copies of the booklet titled “You are Part of our Lives” will be distributed to hospitals and grieving families to help them deal with grief.
