THE Rotary Club of Narre Warren has installed Garry Denny as its next president.
At a dinner attended by guests and Rotarians at the Hotel Fountain Gate last week, Mr Denny, his wife Maria and members of their family witnessed outgoing president Ross Chudleigh hand over the collar of office.
Immediate past Rotary District 9820 Governor Ray Stewart, who is also a member of the Rotary Club of Narre Warren, assisted with the handover.
During the evening outgoing president, Ross Chudleigh reported on the year’s activities, telling Rotarians and guests that it had been an enjoyable and productive year.
He spoke of the year’s major projects such as the Highland Gathering, the Christmas Trailer Raffle, charity Golf Day (held jointly with the Rotary Club of Endeavour Hills) and the traditional Anzac Day breakfast.
Mr Chudleigh said the club had also conducted a youth camp in conjunction with the City of Casey and a student exchange dinner.
The outgoing president also said that having Narre Warren member Ray Stewart as Rotary District Governor throughout the year had added a pleasing dimension, including hosting the district conference in Geelong in February.
Mr Chudleigh said it had been a great honour to have Mr Stewart serve as the club’s third district governor since its formation in 1976.
He and his wife Liz thanked members for their support and wished the new president and his team well for the new Rotary year.
New president Garry Denny thanked Ross Chudleigh for a great year of Rotary “service above self”, the Rotary International theme for 2005-06. Mr Denny said that the focus in the new year would be centred around the next theme, “lead the way”.
“We will continue with our community projects as well as support the many international programs of Rotary,” he said.
The board for the new Rotary year comprises Garry Denny (president), Ken Larkin (president elect and club service), Ross Chudleigh (immediate past president), Marion Mason (secretary), Don Wallace (treasurer), Roger McGill (community service), Ian Pickering (international), Tim Carswell (vocational), Rob Hastings (youth) and Steve Shutt (Rotary Foundation).
