WHEN young Olivia Absolom was receiving chemotherapy, it was a regular delivery of Krispy Kreme donuts that put a smile on her face and some sustenance in her tiny stomach.
Last year, Olivia’s mum Emma sent an email to Krispy Kreme thanking the company for cheering up her daughter.
Lisa Dala, Krispy Kreme’s community coordinator, was moved enough to recommend that Olivia be made the company’s Friend of the Year. Last Thursday, Olivia and her friends from the Challenge Cancer support playgroup celebrated her third birthday with a party at the Fountain Gate store in Narre Warren.
“It was a fantastic day,” said Mrs Absolom. “They were spoilt rotten.”
For her and husband Matt, “it was a good chance to enjoy Olivia and her friends”.
Olivia finished her chemotherapy sessions in November last year, and is currently recovering from a spinal-cord tumour.
