WORLD War II veterans at Hallam Residential Care were honoured with VP Day medals on Friday.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne visited residents who were unable to attend Monday’s special presentation ceremony at Cranbourne RSL.
The Federal Government has commissioned a commemorative medallion for all surviving World War II veterans, widows and widowers to mark the 60th anniversary of Victory in the Pacific.
Mr Byrne presented 40 medals at last week’s ceremony while 30 were handed out at the first presentation on VP Day, 15 August.
He said it was important to recognise the sacrifices of all veterans who had given so much for the country.
“It was a great honour and a privilege to present the medals to the residents on behalf of the community,” Mr Byrne said.
“The medals are some small token of our appreciation for their service and the sacrifices they made on behalf of the country.”
