LOCAL community groups will now have the help of a qualified professional to assist them when applying for funding.
The City of Casey has created the new position of grants facilitator to help non-profit organisations obtain money from the various grants on offer.
Casey director community services Jennie Lee said Jessie Ballantyne had been appointed in the position and would be available to help groups immediately.
Ms Ballantyne is hopeful of making a difference to all groups but in particular new organisations with limited resources, Ms Lee said.
“Many groups in Casey are run by dedicated volunteers and committees with great ideas for the community, but may not have the resources to run projects, events or training for their members,” Ms Lee said.
“I strongly encourage not-for-profit groups in Casey keen to explore funding opportunities to contact Casey’s grants facilitator for more information on the grants available and how to go about applying for them.”
Casey Council is also set to benefit from the appointment, with Ms Ballantyne working to obtain grants for the city as well.
“Council will continue to pursue additional funding opportunities to maximise our resources for the benefit of our growing community,” Ms Lee said.
Anyone wanting more information regarding available grants can contact Jessie Ballantyne on 9705 5200.
