SENIOR citizens strapped on their dancing shoes as they celebrated the 80th birthday of one of their longest-serving members.
Joy Thornycroft has been a part of the Cranbourne Senior Citizens Club for 20 years and runs the weekly dance socials at the Berwick and Cranbourne clubs, teaching members the new vogue style of dance.
The 80-year-old Berwick resident said she felt lucky to be still dancing.
“I started learning tap and ballet when I was six years old,” she said. “And I love it just as much as I did when I first began.”
The dance enthusiast celebrated her special milestone with an afternoon tea at bothclubs, attracting more than 60 members.
The weekly dance socials are held every Thursday at the Berwick Senior Citizens Club from noon to 3pm and at the Cranbourne Senior Citizens Club from 1pm to 4pm.
