MICHELLE Hext of Purposeful Life will lead the Casey Business Development Group (CBDG) for the next year.
Ms Hext was elected during the CBDG gala dinner and annual meeting held at Clover Cottage Berwick on Monday.
The gala event with top international guest speaker and businesswoman Janet Holmes a Court capped a highly successful year for the group.
Mrs Holmes a Court predicted good times ahead for business in the City of Casey.
Mrs Holmes a Court heads John Holland – one of the major companies building the Eastlink Freeway – and predicted the project would generate 70,000 jobs in the local corridor.
Other CBDG committee members elected on Monday were secretary Isobel Caulfield of Berwick Boarding Kennels and Cattery and treasurer John Flanigan of Mortgage Finance Services.
The committee members are Darren Zappa of Compuzed, Matt Eno of Eno Technology, Richard Baker of the Casey Business Guide, Chris Hext of 1 Step Communication and Yelka Jurinovic of Elegant Occasions.
Mrs Holmes a Court said a major benefit from Eastlink would be thousands of jobs for people in the City of Casey.
Mrs Holmes a Court said Casey had lots of people, but most worked outside the municipality.
“Small business will benefit from the flow down coming from big business as it arrives,” she said.
“The City of Casey in the next few years will be big on people, jobs, and infrastructure.
“This is a fantastic place to live and we hope to make it a fantastic place to work,” she said.
