A NARRE Warren newborn made a memorable entrance to the world last Friday morning.
Philip Taylor arrived in the front seat of a Mitsubishi Magna parked outside his parent’s house.
No doctors or nurses were on scene to help – just a friendly neighbour and the somewhat surprised partner of Erin Wright.
“I was trying to convince my partner (Steve Taylor) that he was coming then and there,” Ms Wright said.
“He thought the whole process was going to take a couple of hours so he wasn’t overly rushed.”
Both Ms Wright and Philip, who tipped the scales at a healthy eight pounds and 10 ounces, got through the birth well and were taken to Casey Hospital in an ambulance.
Mr Taylor was in close tow.
“I was actually 12 days over and I was booked in at 8am at Casey Hospital to be induced,” Ms Wright said.
“I was basically getting ready for that and by the time I got dressed I was already pushing. I walked from the house to the car and I had him about four minutes later.”
Neighbour Karren MacFarlane was outside her house at the time of the birth, Ms Wright said.
“I was lying across the front seat and I saw Karen, so I yelled out to her.”
Ms Wright said her partner was inside organising for their other son Hamish, 2, to be cared for by a friend.
In the end Hamish ended up watching the arrival of his brother take place.
“I didn’t realise, but he had snuck in the back of the car. The first thing he said was ‘baby’ and he was really excited. He has been great,” Ms Wright said.
A healthy mother and baby were released from Casey Hospital the next day.
