PILGRIMS from more than 30 countries gathered in Endeavour Hills last week in the lead up to World Youth Day.
About 350 people attended the week-long event which was coordinated by The Passionists and held at St Paul Apostle Parish.
A welcome to the country was performed by local aboriginal performers last Wednesday week as part of the first day.
Families of the church provided places to stay for the pilgrims who spent several nights in the local area before heading to Sydney for the main event.
They also took part in a large mass service at Telstra Dome last Friday and a closing ritual and send off ceremony at Endeavour Hills on Saturday night.
Casey councillor Rob Wilson was asked to perform the official welcome on behalf of the city.
“It was a great privilege and honour to be part of the event,” he said.
