Game is a buzz

Q: Buzz with wireless buzzers? A: Bring it on!Q: Buzz with wireless buzzers? A: Bring it on!

Buzz! Quiz TV
Playstation 3, Playstation Portable
4/5
$109.95 with a four-pack of wireless buzzers
$59.95 for game only

PLAYING Buzz with corded buzzers was like wearing socks in the shower. So when Buzz! Quiz TV for the Playstation 3 arrived with wireless, battery powered, buzzers, I quivered with quizzical excitement.
There was something about playing Buzz with cords that I never liked.
‘Buzz moments’ meant spilt drinks, and the owner of the game was left to untangle metres of cable at the end of a Q&A session.
But Buzz! Quiz TV, with its sleek, portable buzzers, is a whole new experience.
And the questions? Spot on! The game has 5000 questions spread across five categories, music, movies and TV, sports, knowledge and lifestyle.
The game studio is beautifully rendered and the game’s delightfully sarcastic host, Buzz, is armed with endless arsenal of cheesy one liners.
Every game you play is broken down into different modes, including points builder, pie fight, points stealer and the final countdown.
It would have been nice to have more game modes, to change up the quiz battles, but given Buzz is designed for multiplayer fun, your opponents will keep your thoroughly entertained.
The online Sofa Vs Sofa multiplayer mode looks exciting but Sony seems to be experiencing problems with online matchmaking.
I tried to fire up an online game but was met with an error message refusing my connection.
Once resolved, the online mode has the potential to be the game’s selling point.
Even if you’ve played and loved Buzz before, grab a set of wireless buzzers, step into the high-definition studio and you’ll enjoy a totally different experience.
