TWO performing arts students are dancing and acting their way to the top.
Tara Crivari, 16, and 12-year-old Luke McConnell from the Cathy Lea Academy of Performing Arts have both recently received prestigious scholarships for next year.
Narre Warren North’s Tara has won a theatre scholarship to Caulfield Grammar School while Luke received a performing arts scholarship to Beaconhills College.
The budding actress said this was the first time she had received a scholarship.
“I still can’t believe I’ve won a spot at the exclusive school,” she said.
“I’m over the moon about it. It’s such an honour,” she said.
Tara has been studying acting at the Narre Warren academy for two years and dreams of having a career in stage theatre.
“I love watching and being a part of stage theatre.
“It’s a lot of fun,” she said.
The up and coming star has always enjoyed acting.
“I’ve been passionate about acting ever since I began dra-ma classes in year seven,” she said.
Tara admires Cate Blanchett, John Bell and her dedicated teacher Cathy Lea.
Dancing star Luke has been tapping and shuffling his feet for six years and said he was honoured to receive the performing arts scholarship.
The Narre Warren South dancer said he was looking forward to gaining a great education and being able to dance and perform at the same time.
Luke performed a jazz and tap routine during his intense audition process.
“Tap is my favourite style. It makes me really happy,” he said.
Luke hopes to one day perform in professional musicals such as Billy Elliot.
