CASEY residents living in a 50km/h speed zone area are able to participate in the 50 In My Street speed reduction initiative by placing a sticker on their green domestic waste bins.
The program is a partnership between the City of Casey, RoadSafe Outer South East Community Road Safety Council and Victoria Police aimed at controlling speeds in residential areas.
City of Casey mayor Janet Halsall said the project promoted safe driving.
She said the stickers would help raise awareness among motorists.
“This is one way that Casey is helping to educate motorists on the importance of driving responsibly and the correct speeds on our roads which can potentially save many lives,” mayor Halsall said.
To be a part of this community-based program, residents can contact the City of Casey on 9705 5200 to arrange for a sticker to be mailed to them.
All careless and irresponsible drivers should be reported to the City of Casey Hoon Hotline toll free 24-hours on 1800 18 (HOON), 1800 184 666.
