YOUNGSTERS at a Berwick school are celebrating all things Australian, in a literary way.
This week, students from Timbarra Primary School had a special visit from author and illustrator Michael Salmon.
The students are learning about Australian authors during their term-three program, Awesome Aussie Authors.
Mr Salmon enchanted the students from grades prep to six during an hour workshop on Monday.
He sketched cartoons and encouraged the students to follow their talents with enthusiasm.
The school’s budding writers also took the opportunity to obtain signed copies of Mr Salmon’s books.
There was plenty of support and enthusiasm from the local community for the literary lessons, and the school library was over flowing with fans, keeping the author signing books and flyers an hour after school had finished.
As part of the program, the school is also running a book cover competition.
All of the entries will be displayed in the hallway of the main building and the winners will be awarded at an assembly.
