CHISHOLM TAFE in Berwick is launching two student magazines at this year’s Melbourne Writers Festival.
Chisholm will launch the twice-annual publication FLY and the annual Pendulum magazine on Friday 22 August at the ACMI Cinema Complex at Federation Square in Melbourne from noon to 1pm.
One of the students working on the magazines, Hamish Macphee, is in his final year of a Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing at Chisholm.
He said the students had been working on both publications for some time. Some work on producing the magazines, while others work on the marketing aspects.
“It’s a constant process,” he said.
FLY magazine showcases the best non-fiction writing of Chisholm students. Pendulum contains all types of fictional writing, including poetry.
Pendulum is open for submissions from anyone and boasts a high standard of writing.
“Well known writers have contributed from the UK, America, and France,” Hamish said.
“We do have to reject a lot, but we encourage writers to continue making submissions.”
Pendulum magazine will be available to the public through some local bookshops.
