POLICE are waiting to interview a man seriously injured in a car crash in Narre Warren on Sunday.
The man, who was driving a car which had been reported as stolen, was taken to The Alfred hospital with serious injuries.
Police said the car smashed into a power pole on Narre Warren North Road near the Monash Freeway at about 12.30pm.
The collision cut power to traffic signals in the area.
Officers had to direct traffic until power was restored, police said.
CFA volunteer Keith Pakenham said the driver suffered serious injuries from the impact into the steering column in the car.
“CFA sent a rescue crew from Dandenong Fire Brigade to help release the victim and fire crews from Narre Warren Fire Brigade also responded along with police,” Mr Pakenham said.
