INTERNATIONAL travellers will include Doveton on their itinerary when a world-class hotel opens its doors in April 2009.
Chifley Doveton management this week released exciting new details about the development which include a wedding reception venue for 300 people, two restaurants and a micro brewery.
The four-and-a-half star hotel will be made up of 128 rooms as well as a range of leisure and conference options.
Construction on the hotel is fast taking shape at the junction of the Princes Highway and South Gippsland Freeway.
Local residents, along with hotel guests, will have access to the restaurants, which include alfresco dining at the Coldwater Creek tavern. Beer lovers will be able to sample Chifley’s own ale as part of the hotel’s micro brewery.
Local employment will also receive a boost with about 70 jobs to be created when the hotel opens.
Constellation Hotel Group director of marketing Julie McKinnon told the News the positions would be advertised locally as well as within the hotel’s internal network.
Ms McKinnon said the opening of the Doveton development was an exciting time for the Chifley Hotel chain.
She said the hotel would have a strong focus on both leisure and business clients with the hotel situated only kilometres away from the various industries of Dandenong.
“We will be brewing our own beer as well as featuring a range of domestic and international boutique beers,” Ms McKinnon said.
“Coldwater Creek will include a gourmet wood fire pizza oven, with the menu also offering modern Australian dishes and meals from the grill.”
A wedding and conference facility will also be available for hire with an extensive pre-function area as well as an open-air terrace. About 300 car parking spaces will also be available.
Chifley Doveton is just one of many multi-million dollar developments planned for Casey during the next few years.
Casey council has outlined plans for a $300 million civic and commercial development near Fountain Gate Shopping Centre.
Westfield Fountain Gate will spend $200 million on an extension that will create 110 new stores and $90 million will be poured into the Casey Towers hotel development in Narre Warren.
