POLICE are on the hunt for a knife wielding robber who escaped with cash from a Hampton Park supermarket.
Detective Sergeant Peter Sterling from the Frankston Embona Taskforce said the man, wearing a black balaclava and gloves, entered the Pound Road ALDI supermarket on 7 November about 7.30pm.
Det Sgt Sterling said the man, described as being in his mid to late 20’s, demanded cash from an employee working on the registers.
Police said the man fled the store with a small amount of cash in a plastic bag.
Det Sgt Sterling said the employee was emotionally distraught as a result of the robbery.
An ALDI spokeswoman said they were fully cooperating with police investigations.
“Our concern is for the safety and security of our employees and customers,” she said.
The spokeswoman said the employee, who was a victim of the robbery, did not suffer any physical injury but has been receiving counselling.
Anyone with information is urged to come forward to police by calling the Frankston Embona Taskforce on 9784 5528.
