A HALLAM businesswoman was among 24 nominees chosen to represent Victoria in the 2008 Telstra Business Women’s Awards.
Meg Roberts, general manager of operations at Porter Davis Homes in Hallam, was put forward for two awards – the Hudson Private and Corporate Sector Award and the PricewaterhouseCoopers Young Business Women’s Award – recognising contributions women make to business.
Despite not taking home the winning awards at Crown Casino on Tuesday last week, Ms Roberts said it was lovely to be recognised for doing what she enjoyed. “Being a finalist out of more than 5000 entries across the state is a great achievement,” she said.
The 35-year-old is responsible for managing seven businesses throughout Melbourne and has helped develop a strong community focus by sponsoring an orphanage in Kenya.
“Every month we send $2500 over to the orphanage for food for the children,” she said.
