Santa sacks for needy children

MEMBERS of the Inner Wheel Club of Berwick have donated 15 Santa sacks filled with education equipment to the Windermere Child and Family Services’ Kids becoming Champions program.
Inner Wheel Club of Berwick president Sue Hildred said the club’s 40 members had bought goods such as books, puzzles and pencils for the sacks.
Santa sacks will be distributed by Windermere this week to the children, aged between 11 and 15 years.
“The Christmas project to Windermere was our way of giving something back to the community,” Ms Hildred said.
Team leader of Kids becoming Champions, Danny Foster, said the early intervention program provided long-term assistance for children who were doing it tough.
The program includes social, emotional, educational, medical, psychological, economic and practical interventions to help enhance a child’s health, wellbeing and resilience.
The Inner Wheel Club of Berwick thanked Narre Warren Officeworks for its donations to the Santa sacks.
