FAMILIES were taught about fire safety last weekend as the Narre Warren Fire Brigade hosted its CFA Awareness Day.
Firefighters set up several information stands for the community in the car park at Krispy Kreme Fountain Gate on Saturday, while children enjoyed exploring the two fire trucks, face painting, the CFA race game and free giveaways.
The children also got the opportunity to meet Captain Koala and take part in the colouring competition.
The CFA Awareness Day ran from 10.30am to 4.30pm.
Lieutenant Damien Baker from the Narre Warren Fire Brigade said the firefighters were pleased with the turn out on the day.
“Lots of people showed up and got the chance to meet their local firefighters,” he said.
Krispy Kreme Fountain Gate donated $4,676, which was part of the event’s proceeds, to the Narre Warren Fire Brigade.
Lt Baker said the funds would be used to purchase a catering trailer and be put towards furnishing the new station, which is set to open in Narre Warren South.
