INDIE-ROCK singer Tara Leigh Dowler will wow crowds with a high-energy fusion of rock and pop at a fundraising concert in May.
The Kambrya College student has recently been signed with Byrneside/Universal Music.
The 16-year-old told the News she was thankful to the City of Casey for their support with the Launch Pad ’09 event on Friday 1 May at the Cranbourne Community Theatre.
“It’s not something that happens everyday and the support from council demonstrates how they support young people and their goals,” she said.
The Berwick singer-songwriter said she was nervous about the upcoming fundraiser.
“We’re hoping to raise $3000 which will go towards developing an EP,” she said.
The EP will feature five of Tara’s original songs.
The budding performer said she drew her inspiration from bands including Grinspoon, The Living End and My Chemical Romance.
“It was Green Day’s songs that first sparked my interest in music,” she said.
Tara has performed at many City of Casey events including the Relay for Life, the Berwick Show, Casey Kids’ Carnival and a variety of Mayoral functions and arts dinners and is a member of the Casey Youth Ambassadors.
The City of Casey is sponsoring the fundraising concert, which will also feature Brothers in harmony, Chelsea Adams, Dorian Gray, Jessica-Jade Bruce, Silver Reasons and Tyla Bertolli. The concert will start at 7.30pm. Tickets cost $10 per person. For bookings call 1800 235 369.
