SEPTEMBER was one of the safest months on Victoria’s roads.
Thirteen people were killed on the state’s roads. This was the lowest number of road deaths recorded in a calendar month since records began in 1951.
Acting Superintendent Steve Frost encouraged motorists to keep up the good work and arrive alive during the Christmas and New Year period.
“At the end of the day, 13 families are grieving over the loss of a loved one in September and hundreds more are dealing with serious injury caused by road trauma,” he said.
So far this year 214 people have died on our roads, compared to 227 at the same time last year.
