New look for students

By Kelly Yates
GLENEAGLES Secondary College has launched its new school uniform.
Teacher Meagan Neil said Year 7 students in 2010 would be the first year level to wear the new look of black, purple and silver.
The uniform will be available for all students to purchase, with the school implementing a three-year turnover process.
All of the school’s students will be expected to be wearing the uniform by 2013.
Ms Neil said developing the school uniform was a challenging process for the uniform committee, made up of staff, parents and students.
“The final look of the uniform is smart, stylish and modern,” she said.
“The cut and design of the individual pieces of the uniform has been taken into account with better fitting and more comfortable garments for the students.”
Ms Neil said the needs of the parents were addressed, with the cost, hard-wearing fabrics and ease of laundering being important factors.
The school has also worked with a graphic-design company to create a new logo.
“The inspiration of the logo is that of students being engaged and enthusiastic about learning and working together as a part of a school community, as well as being able to be an individual,” she said.
