COMMUNITY meetings are being held across the City of Casey in an effort to help families prepare for the fire season.
CFA community safety manager Dave Baker said the meetings were imperative in self-planning.
The meetings will be held at Cranbourne South Primary School on 28 November at 1pm, Cannons Creek Community Centre on 2 December at 7pm, Glover Recreation Reserve in Devon Meadows on 5 December at 2pm and the Churchill Park Golf Club in Endeavour Hills on 7 December at 7pm.
“Even if you don’t think you’re in a fire-prone area, it’s important to attend your local community meetings to find out from trained professionals exactly what your fire risk is,” Mr Baker said.
“Community meetings are a great way we can all work together to ensure that the residents across the City of Casey are fire ready.”
The CFA has produced the FireReady Kit to assist residents in understanding their bushfire risk, prepare their property and develop a bushfire survival plan based on their decision to leave early or to actively defend their property.
“It is important that people remember to include every member of the family in the plan – including pets,” Mr Baker said.
