POLICE were patrolling the streets in Narre Warren and Narre Warren South last week for Operation CARE, an on-going operation targeting drivers committing crime and traffic offences.
The visible roadblock operation was set up on Tuesday along Saxonwood Drive and Ormond Road. Police checked 315 vehicles on the day and issued 10 defect notices and found five unregistered cars.
Senior Constable Allen Inderwisch from the Casey Traffic Management Unit (TMU) said police caught three drivers failing to display P Plates and three motorists using their mobile phones while driving.
Police also nabbed one driver for exceeding the speed limit, one driver failing to carry a probationary licence and one motorist who was driving while disqualified.
“We also found two drivers who were driving while their licence was suspended,” Sen Const Inderwisch said. Sheriff’s Department officers executed 341 warrants and got a total of $84,356.
