THE City of Casey has installed hearing loops at its customer service centres in an effort to help improve communication.
The hearing loops help people with a hearing aid or cochlear implant to clearly hear sounds without any reverberations or echoes.
“There are approximately 53,000 people in the City of Casey who have a hearing impairment,” Casey mayor Geoff Abblett said.
The hearing loops at the centres in Narre Warren, Narre Warren South and Cranbourne came as a result of a community consultation process, Cr Ablett said.
In addition, Casey also has a telephone typewriter service to assist communication with people who are deaf or have hearing or speech impairments.
