Ms Pike visited the school on Tuesday, saying it was a shining example of state schools built in partnership with the Commonwealth to provide better education facilities.
Ms Pike said the Brumby Labor Government had committed $4.6 million, while the Rudd Government contributed $2.7 in funding to help build the new facilities.
Senator Jacinta Collins also attended the opening event.
Berwick Chase Primary School features 16 classrooms, an art craft and music space, library, physical education area, staff administration facilities, canteen and student toilets.
The state-of-the-art classrooms have been designed to support modern teaching and are both open and flexible, with separate learning spaces for small groups.
Narre Warren South MP Judith Graley said the facilities at the Bridgewater Boulevard school meant families in the area could be assured their children had access to the very best educational environments.
Berwick Chase Primary School was applauded at this year’s Victorian School Design Awards, where it won best primary school design.
At the time of the award presentation, principal Murray Geddes told the News the school was thrilled at taking home the title.
