Meet to beat bulge

By Kelly Yates
A HAMPTON Park woman is helping Casey women lose weight, tone up and gain self confidence by running outdoor group exercising sessions.
Kelly Yuile, a qualified personal and group trainer, has been running the group sessions in the school grounds at Kilberry Valley Primary School since November last year.
The 37-year-old said there was a need for a womens only outdoor exercise program in the City of Casey.
“A lot of women say they get intimidated by men in a gym environment,” she said.
“I wanted to give them an atmosphere where they don’t feel intimated or embarrassed. If they feel more at ease they are more likely to come along, let go and enjoy it.”
Ms Yuile not only focuses on weight-loss as part of the program, but also on healthy eating and building self confidence.
“I’ve had a couple of ladies who came to me with diabetes and have since got it under control,” she said.
“Another woman suffered from anxiety and has also managed to get that under control without the use of medication.”
Being outdoors allows Ms Yuile to make every fitness work out different for the women.
“We do body weight exercises and boxing using the benches and playgrounds in the school grounds. It’s fantastic being outdoors,” she said.
Ms Yuile knows all too well about the importance of healthy eating and regular exercise.
“After my first child I was 110kg and I managed to lose that and am now about 65kg,” she said.
“I know how hard it is and the struggles these women will go through.”
Narre Warren South resident Laurelin Bird told the News she had dropped a dress size since taking up the outdoor fitness classes.
“I’ve lost 8kg and noticed my strength, confidence and muscle toning has improved,” she said.
The 34-year-old, who does the sessions twice a week, said she loved exercising outdoors.
Ms Yuile runs the Elite Physique 45-minute outdoor group training sessions from Monday to Friday at 6.30pm at Kilberry Valley Primary School in Hampton Park.
The sessions, which cost $10, are targeted to women at any age.
