Work passport gets a stamp of approval

JOBSEEKERS from Hampton Park, Doveton and Eumemmerring now have a Passport to Work after graduating from an employment training program.
The Passport to Work initiative is an intensive employment support program which provides assistance to unemployed residents to help them find a job or return to study.
City of Casey community strengthening manager Janette Green said the program began with four days of foundation training, focussing on positive thinking, working in a team, communication and project management skills, as well as job search and resumé writing.
“Participants then take part in a thorough, eight-week program focusing on practical job searching including coaching and mock interviews,” Ms Green said.
“Jobseekers are partnered with a corporate mentor for a three-month period, who acts as a coach and role model.”
The 22 Casey residents graduated during a ceremony on Friday 26 March at the City of Casey’s Civic Centre in Narre Warren.
The City of Casey, through the Hampton Park Community Renewal and Doveton Eumemmerring Neighbourhood Renewal, received funding from the Department of Planning and Community Development and Department of Human Services to run the Passport to Work program.
