PROVISIONAL One side Doveton was forced to deal with a 1-1 draw after Beaumaris scored a late goal to wrestle back two points from the home team.
Grant Lane scored first for the locals at Waratah Reserve but a second-half goal to Travis Chalk-Hatton prevented the Doves from taking the full three points.
Doveton sit equal fifth on the Provisional One table with two wins, two losses and two draws.
While in Provisional Two, Endeavour United’s fortunes could turn uglier before they get better after they escaped with a 0-0 draw against Bayside at home.
But it is the lack of attack that would worry coach Norm Maitland, who was unavailable for comment.
In six rounds Endeavour has scored five goals, the second least in the competition and after winning only one game so far the team that was relegated from Provisional One last year are at risk of entering the relegation zone again.
While at Betula Park, Berwick Kings were showed up by an impressive Skye United who pulled away with a 3-0 win in the second half.
In the higher leagues of divisional soccer, Casey Comets upset the in-form Division Two side Dandenong City 1-0.
John McEvoy produced the only goal of the match in the first half which was enough to see the Comets streak past Dandenong.
Dandenong’s only other loss this season has come from the Division Two leader Southern Stars so the win to Casey not only sends a bold statement to the rest of the competition but also leap-frogs them into fourth position on the ladder.
Berwick City, meanwhile, continue to struggle in their horrible month of May.
After going down to Dandenong City last week, Berwick has fallen to the Southern Stars 0-2 this week with further heartache this month set to come.
Stars’ striker Berkan Sakaci scored twice for the visitors as Berwick looks to escape this month that has them scheduled to play three of the top four teams including a show-down match against rivals Casey Comets in two weeks.
