TWENTY police officers from the new Melbourne based Operational Response Unit visited Casey to help local police run Operation CARE (Casey Area Road Enforcement).
The city police will be working alongside Casey traffic police as part of the operation, which is a highly visible roadblock-style operation with a focus on traffic and crime related offences.
The police set up the roadblock along Central Park Way in Cranbourne West on Wednesday 2 June.
During the eight-hour shift, police checked 71 cars and handed out nine defect notices for un-roadworthy cars and found three unlicensed drivers.
Police also caught two drivers failing to display P Plates, two motorists driving while suspended, two drivers failing to wear a seatbelt and two using mobile phones.
Sheriff’s department officers collected a total of $12,982.60 in outstanding fines during Operation CARE.
