FoodWorks shoppers back community groups

FOODWORKS Narre Warren handed out more than $4000 to community groups last week, thanks to its shoppers.
The store presented $4147.36 worth of cheques to more than 15 local community groups.
When a FoodWorks Narre Warren customer signs up to the ‘Rewards Program’ they are given the option of either accumulating points to redeem personal prizes or donating their points to a local community group.
Every time a customer chooses to donate their points to a chosen organisation, Foodworks pays one cent from every dollar the customer spends to the group.
Narre Warren South P-12 College accumulated the most points and was presented with a cheque for $1694.
Other community groups that received donations include Strathaird Primary School, Narre Warren CFA, Coral Park Primary School, Narre Warren South Lions Club and Hillsmeade Primary School.
Store manager Marino Biviano said while the amount raised was significant, they hoped to increase it over the 2010/11 period with the support of the community.
He encouraged local residents to shop at Foodworks Narre Warren to help them plough back into the community.
“This is a great way to fundraise, with minimal effort and outlay by the customer,” he said.
