FIREFIGHTERS were called out to a car “underwater” along Golf Links Road in Narre Warren on Sunday.
Narre Warren Fire Brigade lieutenant Tony Bundock said crews found a car on its roof in the roadside drain at 8.53am, with water covering nearly all the car body.
Firefighters didn’t know if anyone was inside the car, with Lieutenant Bundock saying access was “difficult” as the doors were all held closed by the drain.
Dandenong Rescue also responded to the call.
“As soon as they arrived we pulled the car upright to discover that there was no-one inside,” he said.
“We believe the driver got out of the car by smashing the rear window.”
