AN INCOMPLETE footpath along a Casey road is potentially hampering outdoor activity for local residents.
This is according to councillor Sam Aziz who said the council finish the concrete pedestrian path which runs along Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road to Greaves Road, and from that point to Woodward Road.
“Because the Casey council area is so large, council does prioritise,” he said.
“Areas such as Narre Warren South have experienced massive growth, but areas such as Fountain Drive in Narre Warren may have been neglected.
“We need to tighten infrastructure in all areas so all residents can enjoy the outdoor amenities, such as walking or bike riding, especially coming into summer.”
At the council meeting on Monday 18 October Cr Aziz asked council officers to investigate the issue.
This week City of Casey manager of transport Paul Hamilton said officers were investigating the issues and would report back to the council at a meeting in the near future.
“Casey is a developing area with country-style infrastructure, such as roads and footpaths, which has not kept pace with the city-sized population,” he said.
“Through council’s Linking Path Strategy, path locations are assessed and prioritised on the need for delivery and in the 2010-11 Capital Works Program, $800,000 has been allocated to the program for the development of paths throughout the municipality.”
