CRANBOURNE Football Club has just secured ex-Carlton player Caleb Tiller for the 2011 season.
Tiller played a handful of senior games with the Northern Bullants before being placed on Carlton’s list, but has decided to make a move to Cranbourne to join Brad Collier – a former coach of his.
Cranbourne head coach, Doug Koop, said his presence – along with the likes of VFL star Justin Berry – was sure to bolster the squad.
“He’s certainly a talent and definitely a big acquisition for us for next year,” he said. “I just think he became frustrated with the AFL system and in the end he lost all enjoyment in footy, so hopefully he can come back here with us and start having a bit more fun.”
During his time at Carlton, Tiller did not manage to play a senior game but remained on their list for two seasons. The Blues picked him up with their sixth round draft pick at number 80 in the 2008 draft.
“He was picked at a real young age and I guess he didn’t know how to take playing in the AFL, he probably found it a bit daunting at times,” Koop said. “He’ll be looking to have a solid year, next year and get some confidence back.”
Koop said the Cranbourne Football Club would commence training mid-November with one session per week until Christmas.
