‘Noah’s Ark’ safe from floods

DESPITE being inundated with water during the recent storm floods on 4 and 5 February, the quick-thinking response of Myuna Farm staff ensured the safety of all animals currently residing at the farm.
With seven birthday boys and girls due to have birthday parties that weekend, the staff were able to get the farm up and running for business by Saturday 5 February.
“All seven went ahead as planned – thanks in large part to the dedicated staff who worked through the night to save animals and equipment from the incredible volumes of water which literally washed through the paddocks,” said City of Casey Manager Sport and Leisure Richard Amon.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes said “We are thrilled that the dedicated staff at Myuna Farm were able to save all the animals and get the facility back on its feet the very next day.”
Since the floods, Myuna Farm has added some new faces to their menagerie of farm animals.
Tassels is a two-year-old milking goat that will produce milk to feed the farm’s baby animals and during the twice-daily milking demonstrations given by farm staff, will allow children to enjoy a more hands-on experience at the farm.
Other new additions include chickens, ducklings, three spotty piglets, goat kids, a baby alpaca and a Jersey calf.
Located at 182 Kidds Road, Doveton, Myuna Farm is open seven days a week from 10am-4pm; entry fees apply, but EFTPOS is not available. For more information please call Myuna Farm on 9706 9944.
