A WOMAN escaped serious injury after her car overturned down an embankment off Heatherton Road in Endeavour Hills about 10am on Monday.
The woman, in her late thirties, was believed to have been turning right from Heatherton Road onto the Monash Freeway when her car skidded in the wet conditions, slipped down the bank and ended upside down in a ditch.
Police, ambulance and fire crews from Hallam and Dandenong attended the scene.
Senior Station Officer at Hallam fire brigade Greg Chapman said when the fire brigade arrived the woman was still in the car, which was in about three inches of water.
“The lady was being held up out of the water by a passer-by,” Mr Chapman said.
“We initially had a look at ways we could get her out. We ended up breaking the back window and pulled her out the back of the upside down car.”
The woman was treated for minor injuries and shock.
