FOCUS was on families and science as James Cook Primary School celebrated Education Week last week.
About 50 families attended a special event at the school on Thursday to view students’ art exhibits, listen to the recorder group and ensemble perform and try their hand at paper airplanes.
Principal Kathy Sharp said while she believed every week was education week at James Cook Primary School, the special event was an opportunity to see the refurbished spaces and view students’ work.
“We had a sensational week,” Ms Sharp said.
“ There was great fun had by all.”
The school was also opened on Saturday to allow next year’s potential preps and their parents an opportunity to see the school and meet some teachers.
“Many of the parents were pleased we were open on a Saturday, so dads and grandparents who worked could come and see the building. We had great reviews about how beautiful our open spaces were from the refurbishment,” she said.
“They said the school had a warm feeling.”
Ms Sharp said the school would be starting Fun Fridays in Term 3 for preschool children. Enrolment has already begun, so Ms Sharp urged anyone who is interested to contact the school on 9700 2601.
