Awards for adult learners

PEOPLE who have participated in Adult Community and Further Education (ACFE) are encouraged to nominate someone for the 2011 Victorian Learn Local Awards.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP and Parliamentary Secretary for Education Inga Peulich said awards were a great way of recognising excellence within Adult Community and Further Education.
She said the Learn Local program was an important part of improving local communities.
“There are six award categories ranging from recognising the most outstanding organisation to recognition of an individual whose work demonstrates commitment to excellent outcomes for local learners,” she said.
“Learn Local offers a wide variety of programs that are beneficial to the community such as literacy classes and introductory courses that help build skills for the workplace,” Ms Peulich said.
The six award categories are: Outstanding Organisation, which recognises excellence in a Learn Local organisation for the delivery of locally responsive services to learners; Outstanding Learner, which recognises the personal and learning achievements of a Victorian participating in a Learn Local organisation; Outstanding Practitioner, which recognises someone employed in a Learn Local organisation whose professional practice demonstrates commitment to excellent outcomes for learners; Outstanding Koorie Achievement, which recognises achievements by a Koorie learner or a program or organisation that delivers outcomes for Koorie learners; Outstanding Pre-Accredited Program, which recognises excellence in a pre-accredited program and Innovation in Learning, which recognises the innovation and creativity of a program or activity in a Learn Local organisation.
Nominations are open from 18 April to 24 June and the winners will be announced at a Gala Luncheon in September.
