A BERWICK resident is pleading for the return of family photos and videos stolen from her home over the weekend.
Police say that between 1pm and 8pm last Saturday several items were stolen from a house in Marisa Crescent.
The resident, who asked to be known as Sarah, said that while she hoped to get all the items back, photos and video of her family were the most important.
“They took a big bag of jewellery, watches, and lots of paperwork – including bills and bank statements,” Sarah said.
“But what really makes me upset is that they took my digital camera with photos of my children, which I haven’t printed yet, and my video camera, which has a video in it of the christening of one of my children.”
Sarah said she, her husband and their three children returned from church on Saturday evening to find drawers open, clothes strewn across the room and many items stolen.
She said the incident had had a major impact on her family, including her 13-year-old son, through whose bedroom window the thieves entered.
Sarah believed she ignored a number of signs leading up the burglary and wanted other residents to be aware of such behaviour.
“I spoke to a neighbour who said they had seen a suspicious car hanging around the area,” she said.
“I feel like I was being watched or something. When I left the house I locked the doors and all the lights were out. I just want other people to be cautious.”
Leading Senior Constable Dale Jenkins urged anyone with information about this burglary to call Detective Senior Constable Michael Thompson on 9705 3111.
