Robbie treated to star performance

AUSTRALIA’S Got Talent judge Brian McFadden visited Narre Warren to help Robbie Destratis celebrate his 18th birthday.
Robbie was diagnosed with leukaemia in October last year, and mum Katina says that a social worker suggested that the family get in touch with the Make-A-Wish foundation.
“It was devastating when he was diagnosed. It was awful, he was in hospital for two months the first time. I stayed with him the whole time.”
The Dandenong Valley student celebrated his 18th birthday on Saturday 2 July with his family and friends.
Robbie’s extended family were impressed with the Irish celebrity making an appearance.
“We didn’t tell the guests he was coming so they were surprised when (Brian) arrived with his guitar,” Katina said.
Robbie plans to be a concreter when he finishes school this year. He’s following in the footsteps of his older brothers. “One of my brothers is a builder, so maybe something like that,” he said.
The Casey-Cardinia branch of the Make-A-Wish foundation arranged for the Australia’s Got Talent judge to sing at Robbie’s birthday.
Originally, he had hoped to go to a premier of the new Transformers movie. While the movie didn’t have a red carpet event in Australia, the Destratis family enjoyed a night out and saw the action flick in ‘gold class’ instead.
Robbie also received tickets to see Australia’s Got Talent in Melbourne with his mum. “He got a photo with the three judges, which he was thrilled at.”
