Birthday splash

FOR 10 years, families have been making a splash at the Casey Aquatic and Recreation Centre (ARC) in Narre Warren.
This month, they are invited to celebrate the centre’s 10th birthday on 25 September.
The event will run from 11am until 4pm and will feature numerous activities including market stalls, water activities, blood pressure testing, underwater photography, a giant pool inflatable, group fitness classes, Kapa Haka Maori Cultural Group performance and a sausage sizzle.
City of Casey Mayor Shar Balmes said Casey ARC, which is managed for council by the YMCA, was a wonderful centre offering a diverse range of programs and services which cater for all ages.
She said the council invested significant funds in improvements at the centre.
This year, the council spent $300,000 on developing a refurbished health club which was outfitted with $350,000 worth of new cardio equipment.
Other improvements this year include a new RPM studio, new crèche floor and the installation of $30,000 worth of water features which use water already in circulation within the facility.
Cr Balmes said by working in partnership with South East Water, waste water volumes had also been significantly reduced at the ARC following the installation of a new backwash unit.
City of Casey Manager Sport and Leisure Richard Amon said the ARC offered much more than swimming, including a health club, group fitness classes, personal training, YMCA Aquatic Education and Y Splash holiday programs, a wave pool, childcare facility, physiotherapy and massage clinic, children’s programs and the Good Life cafe.
