Swim round the clock

By Emma Sun
CASEY Aquatic and Recreation Centre (ARC) will be hosting its maiden 24 Hour Mega Swim to raise money for multiple sclerosis (MS).
The swim involves teams of up to 15 participants swimming relays over 24 hours.
Each team must always have a swimmer in the water, and it is up to the team how they swim it – participants can swim from 15-minute blocks right up to four hour blocks.
Funds raised from the swim will go towards the Go for Gold Scholarships and Financial Assistance funds to help some of the 20,000 Australians living with MS.
The 24 Hour Mega Swim ambassador and Olympic gold medallist Michael Klim said money raised through the event could really help people with MS.
“I am passionate about the event because it provides opportunities for some truly inspirational people who are living with a really difficult disease,” he said.
Development manager 24 Hour Mega Swim Mark Sims encourages everyone to get involved and support the event.
“Take part in a fun and rewarding community event for people of all ages and fitness levels to raise $15,000 for scholarships for people living with MS and allow them to aspire and achieve their life long dreams,” Mr Sims said.
The 24 Hour Mega Swim will be held at Casey ARC, located on the corner of Overland Drive and Princes Highway, Narre Warren.
Sponsored by the City of Casey and the Kiwanis Club of Berwick, the event will go from noon to noon October 8 to 9.
Anyone interested can register online at www.megaswim.com or call 1300 705 341.
