Five charged after high-speed chase

FIVE teenagers were arrested and charged following a high-speed pursuit through the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire last week.
The chase began in Officer about 10am on 12 October and finished in Hampton Park after 20 minutes.
Hampton Park Secondary College and River Gum Primary School in Hampton Park were in lockdown for about 10 minutes during the pursuit.
A Victoria Police spokesperson said after about a 20 minute chase, the occupants dumped the car and fled on foot. A short time later, police apprehended the five occupants and they were taken to the Narre Warren Police Station to be interviewed.
A 17-year-old from Narre Warren faces numerous charges including reckless conduct endangering life, driving while disqualified, failing to stop a vehicle as per police request, driving at a dangerous speeding and theft of motor car. He was remanded in custody until 3 November.
A 14-year-old and 16-year-old from Narre Warren, 15-year-old from Pakenham and 14-year-old from Hampton Park were also arrested and face numerous charges.
They will appear at Melbourne Children’s Court at a later date.
