Celebrate the great

DOVETON residents flocked to Autumn Place Gardens on Australia Day to enjoy an event hosted by the Doveton Eumemmerring Township Association, supported by the City of Casey. The event featured music by local performers, food stalls, face painting, community group displays and children’s activities.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne also handed out 16 2013 Holt Australia Day Awards to people and organisations who contributed their time and energy to do valuable volunteer work.
“I congratulate all those receiving a Holt Australia Day Award for their exemplary community spirit and endless hours of volunteer work making our community a better and safer place to live,” Mr Byrne said.
“These people do not get the same accolades as other famous people but in their own quiet Australian way they do tremendous work in giving their precious time to make other people’s lives better.”
The Doveton recipients were: Lynne Bryan, Maureen Dore, Malgorzata Drajkopyl, Coosje Dubach, Enid Gibb, Wajid Khan, Lorraine Laughton, Brittany Leo, Ema Cristina Loyola, Thomas Niazmand, Simon Pollock, Josephine Thompson, Jamila Timiri, Shaun Trotter, Andrew Watson, and Here for Life Volunteers.
